Chocolate spread (nut-free)

Serving

Share:

A completely nut-free spread that will revolutionise your perception of sunflower seeds.

I crafted this recipe for an eBook, finding myself sneaking a teaspoon of the spread every time I passed through the kitchen—it was simply that delicious :).

Recognising my genuine enjoyment, I felt compelled to share this recipe with everyone. We all deserve healthier 'Nutella' alternatives made from natural ingredients, and in this case, utilizing sunflower seeds as a base—affordable and accessible for all

Ingredients

- 280g sunflower seeds
- 90 ml extra virgin olive oil
- 40g raw cacao powder
- 30 ml maple syrup
- 35g coconut sugar
- 1⁄2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1⁄4 teaspoon of pink or sea salt

Preparation
  1. Begin by toasting the sunflower seeds in the oven for 15-18 minutes at 160°C (320°F).
  2. Once they're ready and still warm, process them together with the olive oil, vanilla, and salt until a creamy texture forms.
  3. Next, add in the cacao powder and syrup, continuing to process until you achieve a smooth and shiny mixture.
  4. Store the spread in a glass jar. Since this preparation contains no water, it can last for weeks when refrigerated or kept at room temperature.

Tip: Use it to make snacks, cakes, or spread it on crackers for a delightful treat.
